Pañacocha Reserve
The Pañacocha Protected Forest is a Tropical Humid Forest in which we can see species of the Sapotáceas family, Fabaceae, and these have a canopy of a height of 30m. the subdocel reaches up to 20 m with species such as the Morácea Family, Flacourtiaceae, Arecaceae, the understory reaches about 15 m with Laurácea, Flacourtiaceae, and Meliácea families. In animals we can find: howler monkeys, varizos, machines, peccaries, tapirs and the Amazonian pink dolphin.
The small Pañacocha Lagoon is located in the territory of the Kichwa San José de Guayusa Commune in a good state of conservation. Its landscape is open with a panoramic water mirror, surrounded by natural herbaceous, shrub and tree vegetation without apparent human impacts. The associated fauna represents most of the Amazonian Faustian groups, since the aquatic and terrestrial habitats are little altered. Its origin is probably linked to ancient meanders of evolution of the Ecuadorian Amazon Basin.
