MINGA LODGE

A luxurious retreat designed with respect for its natural environment, Minga Lodge & Reserve is situated on 700 acres of tropical rainforest on the banks of the Rio Napo in the wildlife-rich heart of the Amazon.
Guests enjoy exclusive and immersive experiences that unite culture, community, conservation, and wellness.
No matter what the day’s adventures hold—exploring cacao plantations, discovering the rainforest’s remarkable wildlife, or visiting indigenous Kichwa communities—Minga Lodge & Reserve offers serene, luxurious spaces in which to refresh and recharge afterwards.
Meals are prepared by a professional chef who sources fresh, local fruits and vegetables and premium specialty ingredients from across the
country to create delicious, healthy epicurean feasts.
Family-style meals feature both Western favorites and Ecuadorian specialties.
Our commitment is to create unforgettable experiences for you and your loved ones. Whether you’re embarking on one of our immersive cultural activities, venturing out on a rainforest hike or relaxing in your cabin, our staff and expert local guides will look after every detail—leaving you free to relish in the wonder and wildlife surrounding Minga Lodge & Reserve.
Learn from locals
Immerse yourself in cultural activities led by local community members. Learn directly from them through guided tours of their homes, make artisan crafts, cook traditional food, and participate in a blessing by a local shaman.

Explore the rainforest
Experience the Amazon’s amazing rainforest and wildlife. While you hike, canoe or explore by open-air vehicle, your guide will point out parrots, toucans, monkeys and sloths. But don’t forget to look for piranhas, caiman, orchids and colorful frogs.
Enjoy authentic experiences

Our team at Minga Lodge includes locals and expert guides. They share their knowledge and expertise with you about the rainforest, their history and culture, and their hopes for the future for the Amazon and its environment.

What to bring?

Lightweight pants and long sleeved cotton shirts are ideal for walks in the forest. However, if you are more comfortable wearing short sleeves, remember that exposed skin may need a light dousing with insect repellant.

During the rain, full waterproof clothing can be uncomfortable as it often gets you wet with sweat instead of water, but rain ponchos are recommendable for tropical cloudbursts. Plenty of ponchos are available at no charge if you do not have your own, and we also supply rubber boots up to men’s size 14 for walks in the forest interior.

Comfortable shoes (or sandals), shorts and t-shirts are fine for walking on boardwalks and around the Lodge during meals and free time. And don’t forget your bathing suit!

  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Camera, memory and flash
