Continue to Plaza de la Independencia, surrounded by important government and religious buildings like the Presidential Palace, the Cathedral, and the Archbishop’s Palace.

Marvel at the golden interior of La Compania de Jesús, one of the most ornate churches in Latin America, and explore the Church and Convent of San Francisco, which dates back to the 16th century.

From there, drive up to El Panecillo Hill, crowned by the Virgin of Quito, and take in 360° views of the entire city, from its colonial core to its modern outskirts.

After lunch, head north to the Mitad del Mundo, where you’ll visit the famous Equator Monument and explore the surrounding complex that includes craft shops, traditional Ecuadorian architecture, and cultural exhibits. You may also choose to visit the Intiñan Museum, known for its hands-on science demonstrations and indigenous exhibits.

End your day with a thrilling ride on the Quito Teleferico, one of the highest aerial lifts in the world. Ascend over 2,500 meters to reach the slopes of Pichincha Volcano for a breathtaking view of Quito, the Andes mountains, and nearby snow-capped volcanoes.
