Itinerary
The tour begins early in the morning at 06:55 AM with pick-up from selected hotels or a designated meeting point in Quito. From there, we travel south along the famous Avenue of the Volcanoes, a scenic route that offers breathtaking views of the Andes mountain range and its many snow-capped peaks.
Our first stop is Cotopaxi National Park, home to one of the world’s highest active volcanoes at 5,897 meters above sea level. We begin at the Interpretation Center, where you’ll learn about the park’s geology, wildlife, and volcanic history. We then continue to Limpiopungo Lagoon, a peaceful high-altitude lake nestled in the páramo ecosystem.
After this immersive nature experience, we continue the journey through the central Andes toward the province of Cotopaxi, passing by traditional indigenous villages and colorful highland markets. Your guide will share insights into the daily life, culture, and customs of the Andean communities along the way.
We then arrive at one of Ecuador’s most iconic natural wonders — the Quilotoa Crater Lagoon. Formed inside a dormant volcano, this stunning turquoise lake offers panoramic views and unforgettable photo opportunities. You’ll walk to the main viewpoint. After exploring Quilotoa, you’ll enjoy free time for lunch (not included) in a nearby local restaurant, where you can taste authentic Andean cuisine.
In the afternoon, we begin our return to Quito, arriving back in the city between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM, depending on traffic and weather conditions.
